About Our Meat

The meat we sell is from animals we raise on our farm. The organic certification for our beef assures you that no hormones or antibiotics have ever been used with these cows.  Our veal calves are pastured and humanely raised.

Organic beef is the most strictly regulated meat available. It is the only beef guaranteed to have been third-party monitored at every step from farm to table, and not to have used any animal by-products as feed in production.

We also raise hogs on pasture during the summer, and sometimes we have lamb. In addition to organic grain we feed the pigs whey, the by-product of our cheese making. This whey helps produce a wonderful quality pork. For that very reason, we call our pork Whey TastierTM.

Processing

Our meat is processed locally by Island Grown Farmers Coop, a USDA inspected facility in our neighborhood of which we are members. IGFC brings the slaughter trailer to our farm so the animals are not stressed by transport to a slaughter facility.  We offer a wide range of cuts including steaks, roasts, ribs, ground beef and pork, veal cutlets, sausage, chops, liver, soup bones, dog bones, etc. We sell our meat frozen on the farm and at farmers markets in the Seattle area and Northwest Washington.

A limited selection of meat items (ground beef, various cuts of veal, etc.) are available wholesale to stores and restaurants. Please phone Roger at the farm or email cheese@samishbay.com to check on availability.
