Making Granola Day!

I feel so lucky to have the guidance of my brother in law, Neil’s original granola recipe. It’s the perfect inspiration to inspire my morning to make a batch of granola. Being the intuitive cook that I am, my end results are never exactly the same as Neil’s recipe. I use whatever seeds, nuts and dried fruit that I have.

When it’s cool outside and the skies are shades of grey is when I get the urge to pull together ingredients to make a delicious batch of granola. Or if I’m in need of a good trail snack, this always hits the spot. I seem to always have plenty of rolled oats, I use them as a daily handful treat for the chickens!

I enjoy the challenge of mixing the gooey granola mix right before it’s poured onto the baking sheet.  Smelling it cook, and checking the texture as it cooks, are part of the pleasures of making Neil’s granola. It pairs wonderfully with our cream on top farm fresh milk. Of course it’s never the same, but it’s so worth having fun making it.

If you’d like to try Neil’s original recipe, you may find it here, on Neil’s Instagram page.
